Clothes for 137 Orphans in Akobo, South Sudan

The orphan boys and girls in our Akobo, South Sudan elementary school need clothes to wear. The teachers have asked for simple uniforms for the children to wear to school with white and black colors for the boys and yellow and blue colors for the girls. We have 66 girls and 71 boys, all orphans, at the school. At $20 per child for the uniforms with 137 orphans, we need $2740 for clothes for the children.

The larger NGOs like UNICEF sometimes provide school bags for the children, but many of the NGOs are not in Akobo this year for a proported lack of funding. For school bags, exercise books, pens and pencils, sharpeners, and erasers for 137 orphans the need is $500.

The orphans are fed a meal each day they come to school. Our donors have already committed $500 per month, but an additional $500 per month is needed.

Our best dressed students posed for the photo and video clip for this blog post.
